Free, Afterschool Tutoring Service<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Students from low-income & underrepresented communities have suffered the consequences of the pandemic, especially in the STEAM area of mathematics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our grant funded homework helper program, which is open to the community, offers in-person and virtual tutorial services provided by education professionals to assist students in their studies. We’ll use specialized one-on-one differentiated instruction methods to cover common core math topics in a way that emphasizes the importance of mathematical development for middle school students moving up to high school. As a result, learning gaps will be closed and an interest in STEAM will be sparked, leading them to pursue higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal of our programs is to increase students’ confidence, improve their academic performance and establish healthy study habits for students of low-income and underrepresented communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the HW Helper program?<\/strong><\/span><\/summary>

HW Helper connects small groups of students to professional educators for free through online and in-person tutoring. We aim to help low-income students who face disproportionate barriers to education.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n

How does HW Helper program work?<\/strong><\/span><\/summary>
\n\n

Tutors and students meet in person and virtually throughout each semester through Google Hangouts. Students work on school assignments; tutors shouldn’t be expected to create assignments. <\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n

It is very important to us that students are safe. The tutors have signed contracts that commit them not to record any meetings with their students without their consent, or to share inappropriate content with them.
