Although society has made meaningful progress toward gender equality, significant gaps remain especially for women and underrepresented minorities in the technology field. In today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) power innovation, economic growth, and future career opportunities. Access to high-quality STEM education is essential for all students, but it is especially critical for those in low-income and underserved communities. Too often, these students face barriers that limit their exposure to STEM learning and career pathways. Through the creation of this opportunity by partnering with the Queens Borough and Deputy Borough President, their staff members and Jet Blue to provide them the chance to attend STEM conferences such as the upcoming NSBE conference, we can help bridge these gaps, inspire curiosity, and equip these CUNY students with the skills, confidence, and connections they need to succeed in the 21st-century workforce. Â
