Sustainable Food Demo at the YMCA

The BELL Organization partnered with Eat for Impact during its month-long February community initiative aimed at encouraging climate action through everyday food choices. The goal of the initiative was to educate families on how plant-rich, sustainable meals can improve environmental health while also promoting food equity and strengthening local community connections. Through this collaboration, BELL helped raise awareness about the impact of food systems and encouraged residents to support local restaurants offering sustainable options.

To extend the impact of the initiative, BELL hosted a hands-on plant-rich food demonstration at the YMCA’s Northeast Bronx location, where families learned how to prepare nutritious, affordable, and environmentally conscious meals. The demonstration provided practical cooking guidance and highlighted accessible ingredients that support healthier lifestyles and sustainable food practices. As a result, participating families gained knowledge and tools to make more climate-friendly food choices at home while strengthening community engagement around healthy eating and environmental responsibility.
