Local Bronx Hip Hop Artist Ras X Releases Children’s Book

As the school year comes to a close and students prepare for summer vacation, maintaining strong reading habits remains essential to their academic growth and development. Just in time for summer, local Bronx, NYC artist Ras X launched his first children’s book, creating an exciting opportunity to inspire young readers and foster a love of literacy.

To celebrate this milestone, our organization partnered with Ras X and the principal of South Bronx Charter School for International Cultures & the Arts to host a special reading event for students. Through storytelling and interactive discussions, students were encouraged to use their imagination, strengthen critical thinking skills, and develop a deeper appreciation for reading.

Reading plays a vital role in a child’s educational journey. It helps build vocabulary, improves comprehension, enhances creativity, and supports academic success across all subjects. By exposing children to engaging stories and positive reading experiences, we can help prevent summer learning loss and nurture a lifelong passion for learning.

Events like these demonstrate the power of community partnerships in promoting literacy and ensuring that children have access to enriching educational experiences both inside and outside the classroom.
