Public housing is a critical part of the affordable housing landscape in New York City. The city’s 174,000 public housing units house some 400,000 low-income New Yorkers, or one in every 11 renters in the city. Community associations play a vital role in creating and maintaining a sense of belonging and togetherness among residents. Social cohesion is essential for building resilience against social challenges and promoting action for positive change. Resilience is vital to both individuals and communities. Strong communities reinforce resilience and well-being among their members. By pooling resources, knowledge, and skills, communities can tackle problems, advocate for change and make a positive impact on their environment. BELL Organization partnered with the Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson and Assembly Member Landon Dais from District 17 in the Bronx to show our appreciation to the many families that call the NYCHA buildings their home.
